Alumni Association Seeks to Triple Membership
Through an intensive membership drive, the Doyon Foundation Alumni Association recently met – and exceeded – its goal to triple its membership. When the association began last spring, there were 32 members on its roster. Today, there are nearly 100 members.

According to Tracy Snow, who is leading the alumni association effort, “an alumni is any Doyon shareholder or descendant who has furthered their education in some way.”
The goal of the alumni association is to support current students, while bringing together alumni for social and networking opportunities. Over the past year, the association has held a number of events, such as student dinners, and the first alumni members’ picnic, which was held in Fairbanks in August. Snow said the association plans to expand events to Anchorage this year, and then continue expanding to other communities both inside and outside the state.
There are numerous ways for alumni to get involved, and there is no required time or monetary commitment. “Alumni can participate at their desired level. They can pick and choose what they want to do,” Snow said.
Among the opportunities, alumni can volunteer to call students to remind them of upcoming scholarship deadlines, bring food to student dinners, deliver snacks to students during finals week, review competitive scholarship applications, participate as a student mentor, and/or attend monthly meetings.
To join the association, alumni simply have to create an online account at our
