Morris Thompson Memorial Golf Classic
2011 Classic
Doyon Foundation’s 2011 Morris Thompson Memorial Golf Classic raised a total of $72,500, representing a growth of approximately 20 percent
from last year’s event. The 11th annual classic, held June 16 – 17 at Chena Bend Golf Course in Fairbanks, drew 112 golfers and 50+ sponsors.

During the classic, an additional $25,000 was also raised for a new competitive scholarship for Doyon Foundation students who are studying health.

About the Classic
The Morris Thompson Memorial Golf Classic was established in 2000 by Doyon Foundation in honor of the late Morris Thompson,
who served as the president/CEO of Doyon, Limited from 1985 until his passing in 2000. The annual event is held each year in
mid-June at the Chena Bend Golf Course on Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Proceeds from the classic support the Morris Thompson Scholarship Fund, an endowed fund benefitting Alaska Native, higher
education students studying business management and leadership. As of 2010, the Foundation has awarded 56 Morris Thompson
scholarships totaling $121,400.
